 The person I chose to use as my changemaker was Harriet Tubman. At first glance, it's pretty apparent we know general knowledge of the woman who helped others and herself gain freedom. I had known that she escaped slavery and created the Underground Railroad. But after doing more research, I realized her story was a lot more remarkable and in-depth than I could have imagined. Tubman was an incredibly influential leader that had directly and indirectly impacted the future of the constitution in several ways. Learning about this strong woman had become my favorite part of the entire project because I had understood that her determination and impact on American society had continued to influence the nation to this very day.   Changemaker Presentation Reflection The Changemaker presentations were a great experience, and I enjoyed learning about all the different topics that each group researched and presented. My group's topic was the 1800s and the Constitution. While working on this project, I learned a lot about important events, changes, and ideas that helped shape the United States. I also learned more about how the Constitution continues to impact our country today. Working with my group was a positive experience. We all had different responsibilities, and everyone contributed to the presentation. We spent time researching information, creating slides, and practicing our parts. At first, it seemed like a lot of work, but once we started putting everything together, it became easier. Working as a team helped us stay organized and make sure our presentation was clear and informative. Blog Post #2 - Oscar Gonzalez

     I had an enjoyable time working on the Changemakers project. However, I did find the process to be more confusing than the last presentation. There were four assignments that seemingly had to be done at the same time: the civic action assignment, the agenda, the study guide, and the presentation slides themselves. It became extremely confusing for me to keep track of everything by the end, but I still tried to do my part where I could.      I liked that all three of the presentations first began with some historical context. It helped the rest of the presentation feel organized. I chose to make my section of the presentation about Frederick Douglass, an important leader of the African American civil rights movement. I researched him very thoroughly for this, which led me to learning some finer details about him, like how he served as a U.S. Marshal under five presidents.  As I began viewing the presentation, I had high expectations of it being just another typical history project that would focus on nothing but dates and events. History often feels like an endless list of names we struggle to remember; however, this presentation was vastly different. Rather than focusing solely upon events, the presentation explored the people who shaped America's early years into what it has become. Upon completing the presentation, I came to realize that many of the rights, freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today were influenced by the individuals who challenged society and created change. I appreciated how the presenter took a "Historical Context" approach at the beginning of the presentation. The timeline provided from 1776 to the late 1800s allowed me to comprehend the changes that were taking place within our country during that time. When my group started working on our history presentation, I chose Aaron Burr as my topic. At first, I was very perplexed about researching him because the only thing I really knew about him was that he was the man who killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel. However, once I started researching him, I quickly realized there was so much more to his story. Even though Aaron Burr is one of the most controversial figures in American history, I genuinely enjoyed learning about him and found his life much more interesting than I expected. One of the things I liked most about researching Aaron Burr was discovering how complicated historical figures can be. It's easy to judge someone based on one famous event, but Burr's life was much bigger than his duel with Hamilton. Before that happened, he had already accomplished a lot. One of the most fascinating aspects of the course for me was watching the changemakers' presentations. I was excited about listening to my classmates' presentations on various topics because everyone had their own way of looking at the subject matter and related it to the broader theme of individual contributions to making changes in society. We saw how various individuals contributed to shaping America through presentations that ranged from America's formation right up to the digital era. What I liked about the presentations is that they were very well organized. The first presentation provided information on the beginnings of American history and included significant individuals who contributed to the formation of the country.  Dyland Rodriguez          Working on the Changemakers project was a positive experience for me. At the beginning, I felt a little nervous because group projects require communication, organization, and cooperation. However, as we worked together, I became more comfortable and confident.        My group worked well as a team by dividing the responsibilities and supporting each other throughout the project. Each member was responsible for researching and presenting a different changemaker, which helped us stay organized and ensured that everyone contributed equally.
